U.S. Senate Console Replacement

(2000, subcontract with Peak Audio)

In 2000, Peak Audio was retained by the US Senate to do a significant software and hardware upgrade. Part of the job was to replace the control console built by David Carroll Electronics during the original Senate job. Our involvement this time was mechanical re-design and fabrication of the complicated sheet metal assembly. The top panel consists of three layers and is designed to allow the operators to re-configure the panel in accordance with the current seating plan on the senate floor. The panel and sandwiched circuit board contain pushbuttons for each of the possibly desk positions on the floor. When seating changes occur, it is a simple matter for operators to remove the top panel layer (6 screws), exchange positions of button caps and blank hole plugs, and replace the top cover.

The job also included the building of a new console extension to match the original, highly custom control console cabinet located in the audience gallery.
