DCE Skywalker Ranch Cross-connect system trivia

Several photos at one of the cross connect walls. A design inspired by Wayne Wagner's philosophies ("make it real", "the telephone company has already figured out how to do this s**t"). I took some ADC products and modified them, and created a frame system using telco style auxiliary hardware. Each rack is divided into top and bottom sections. The top section maps patch bays. The bottom section maps equipment. Single pair jumpers across the front made the configurations happen. Huge wiring bundles in the floor consisted of multipair cable, custom manufactured for us by Belden.

Multipin Patch! An additional patching trunk system was installed in parallel to the patchbay/crossconnect system. Built with 26 pair and Edac 90 pin connectors, it was intended to patch around the 24 track machines (mostly Otari MTR-90's) without having to throw 24 TT patches. Each machine room had one of these bays.
