Skywalker Ranch Technical Building

1988 (David Carroll Electronics)

This was the flagship project for DCE and really put us on the map. I was just starting DCE when I was contacted by Lucasfilm regarding an engineering position. I politely declined, indicating my interest in helping them build in a contracting capacity. We ended up being the prime supplier for audio and video wiring and infrastructure.

The industry took note of the project as well. Check out this Mix Magazine article: [PDF file]

CMR cablefloor.jpg (62622 bytes) The cable in the floor of the Central Machine Room. Blue cable is 26 pair. Yellow is 8 pair. Green is 16 pair. Red is 4 pair. Why? Because it looked nice. If you like it too, here's more pictures of wiring. crossconnect with open top and bottom.jpg (50216 bytes) One of three (or four... I can't remember) audio cross-connect walls. Total Telco-like flexibility in audio routing... just bring your punch tool! If your feeling punchy, here's more.
Birdseye 1.jpg (67283 bytes) One of several beautiful birdseye maple patching credenzas we designed and built, filled with Audio Accessories patch bays. But they're more than the average credenzas... more. crew 5.jpg (62795 bytes) Part of the site crew
